On building trust

During times of crisis, we talk more about coming together and working together. We say at times there is lack of trust among our political organizations and youth groups and that we need to build trust. Trust to do what? Shall we work with politicians and organizations that have failed us time and again? Can they deliver just because there is a crisis? All of us speak well about the importance of working together when some of us work most of the time to the contrary. Each one of us and each organization needs to reflect on what one has done or failed to bring people together, to start with.
Onora O'Neill is a philosopher who focuses on international justice and the roles of trust and accountability in public life.
