When Isaias afworki visited Rome in 1999, he was the man he wanted to meet. Though veterans for Eritrea's independence were not allowed to go back to the country or get buried there and when even the President's close associate, Naizghi Kiflu's corpse was not allowed to be buried there, Isaias invited Amedeo to Eritrea and met him, in 2000.
عندما زار اسياس افورقي روما في عام ١٩٩٩، كان هذا هوالرجل الذي يرغب في لقاءه. على الرغم ان اسياس لم يسمح لقدامى المحاربين من أجل الاستقلال للعودة إلى البلاد أو الحصول على دفن هناك، وحتى عندما توفي نايذقي كيفلو المقرب من الرئيس ، لم يسمح لجثة ان تدفن هناك، ولكن بالرغم من ذالك دعا اسياس أميديو إلى إريتريا والتقى به في عام ٢٠٠٠
