Licensed to protect national unity:

Licensed to protect national unity:

There are some of us who feel they are the only ones who are protectors of national unity and the only ones with a license to do so. Their cry for national unity is similar to that of the regime, “ Hade Hizbi, Hade libi”, just opposition version:

 - Some claim they are the only ones who are national organisations, though their composition is so narrow: ethnic, regional or tribal; but still claim they are national, simply because they have ‘national programs’. In such cases I feel the ethnic-based organisations are more genuine in being honest in their claims

 - Some are religious-based organisations, but they claim they are national organisations
- When we went to Ethiopia, the ‘protectors of national unity’, shouted ‘foul’, our national unity is in danger
 - When the Red Sea Affar Democratic organisation issues statements, they shout similarly
 - When the London Lowlands Initiative Seminar was held, they did the same
 - They do the same in similar circumstances

Who gave them the ‘license?’ By the way, what is meant by ‘national unity?’ if it is not unity in diversity and if it is not based on voluntary basis? Let people organise in the way they feel comfortable in, and then our national unity will be based on a solid basis
